When you look at the Pros jerseys you clearly can see different sleeve lenghts (within one team!) and they fit like a second skin. With my 204cm and 95kg i am very pleased with the 3XL stuff (thanks for you offering this size Castelli!!!) and i guess that Johann van Summeren for example need this size as well. But my jerseys (all Rosso Corsa/Team/Tech Labs) doesn´t fit this tight. The same with the bib shorts: the fit is great but when i look at some pictures of van Summeren i can see that the lenght of the legs sometimes is much longer than of my shorts.
Are the clothes for the Pros tailor made by Castelli or do they wear exactly the same sized stuff that we can buy in our local stores?
Do the Pro riders wear tailor made clothes?

The answer to your question I believe is yes.
I picked up a pair of Castelli CTT bibshorts last year. These were made in Italy and size medium. When I compared them to my other CTT bibshorts size medium made in Hungary, the made in Italy shorts were longer in the leg. Upon inspection on the Castelli label it had the words "3cm".
After firing an email to Castelli in Italy it was confirmed these bibshorts were an option for team riders who wanted a longer leg length.

Rob - you have a rare piece indeed. For a few riders we do custom sizing, but it's really for surprisingly few riders. Obviously our stuff is cut for serious cyclists to begin with, but in most models we have "Long" versions also available for the pros. This can be in the case of Millar who is tall and skinny, or in the case of Haussler who likes his shorts really long. You've probably noticed that Van Summeren like most Belgians likes his shorts short (remember Ludo Dierckxsens?) and actually takes a standard sized short. Very few riders need truly custom pieces, like Ryder's skinsuit that's S on top and M on the bottom.
Modulor - every piece of the Garmin stuff we sell is the same as what we make for the pros. The reason you're seeing different length sleeves or jerseys that fit like a second skin is because we make 3 different short sleeve jerseys for them. The TEAM jersey is probably the one you bought, and what the riders use for training or racing in cold conditions. The AERO RACE jersey, as it sounds, fits like a second skin and is extremely aero. The CLIMBER'S jersey is extremely light weight and quick drying, yet only gives up 3w to the Aero jersey at 40 km/h.

Thanks for the prompt reply Castelli!
So is it possible for us normal customers to order for example the Aero Race Bibs with longer legs (for a surcharge of course) or longer straps (as Assos does)?Posted 9 months ago # -
What size jersey does Van Summeren wear seen as he is so tall?

Ciao ichdien, JVS is wearing size Large in almost everything (shorts, jerseys, jackets etc).

Modulor, it is not possible to order the Aero Race bibs with longer legs. The length of the Castelli shorts is based on years of feedback and work with pro cyclists.
Everything in the Castelli line is exact same pieces as the Garmin-Sharp-Barracuda team. Not less expensive replicas, but the exact same pieces made using the same fabrics, components, fit and finish, by the same people who produce the pieces you see on the pros on TV.
Ciao!

Hi Modulor,
a handful of the tall skinny Garmin-Sharp athletes, see below, get customized clothing, and Johan VanSummeren is one of those. His chest and hip size is a perfect size Large, but the length of his arms and legs are size XL and XXL.
Johan VanSummeren
David Millar
Ryder Hejsedal
